In the 2018 elections, Dream Defenders engaged in a campaign targeting GEO Group, and through direct actions, bird dogging and culture shifting, Dream Defenders got the Florida Democratic Party to pass a resolution discouraging candidates from taking private prison funding, and got an additional 30 candidates to sign a pledge to not take private prison funds.
